X Corp has moved its X Pro feature, formerly known as TweetDeck, out of its standard Premium subscription and into the higher-priced Premium+ tier, now priced at $40 per month.
The move marks another major change to the platform’s monetization strategy under Elon Musk, who rebranded Twitter to X in 2023 and gradually placed key features behind paywalls.
X Pro, widely used by journalists, social media managers, and power users, allows multiple timelines, lists, and feeds to be viewed simultaneously within a single interface. It had previously been included in the regular Premium plan after transitioning from a free tool.
Sudden Change Raises Concerns
Reports indicate that many users were not given advance notice before the feature was moved to the Premium+ tier. Subscribers who recently renewed their Premium plans have expressed frustration after discovering they no longer have access to X Pro.
Support documentation has started reflecting the change, with X Pro now listed exclusively under Premium+ benefits. However, some official pages have yet to update fully, adding to the confusion.
Impact on Users
For users who rely on X Pro for real-time monitoring and content management, the shift will have both functional and financial impacts. Moving the feature to a higher tier could limit access for smaller creators and professionals who previously depended on it.
The decision also reinforces a broader trend on the platform, where core tools are increasingly being bundled into more expensive subscription tiers as X continues to restructure its business model.
While X has not issued a detailed public explanation for the timing of the change, the update signals a continued push toward premium revenue, even at the risk of user backlash.
