Former Manchester United and England star David Beckham has officially become Britain’s first billionaire sportsman, according to the 2026 Sunday Times Rich List.
The publication estimated the combined fortune of Beckham and his wife, Victoria Beckham, at £1.185 billion ($1.583 billion).
The achievement places the Beckhams second among the wealthiest sports-related figures in the United Kingdom, behind the family of former Formula One executive Bernie Ecclestone, whose fortune was valued at £2 billion.
Since retiring from football in 2013, Beckham has significantly expanded his business empire.
He is currently co-owner of Inter Miami CF, which is now regarded as Major League Soccer’s most valuable club with an estimated valuation of £1.07 billion.
Beckham also maintains high-profile endorsement and ambassador partnerships with global brands, including Adidas and Hugo Boss.
During his football career, Beckham captained England and won multiple trophies, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League with Manchester United.
He also played for Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Victoria Beckham’s contribution to the family fortune largely comes from her successful fashion business following her rise to fame as a member of the Spice Girls.
Other major sports figures featured on the Rich List include:
• Lewis Hamilton with an estimated £435 million fortune
• Rory McIlroy is valued at £325 million
• Anthony Joshua with £240 million
• Tyson Fury worth £162 million
• Harry Kane and Andy Murray are jointly valued at £110 million each.
Meanwhile, Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of Manchester United, reportedly saw his fortune decline by £1.85 billion amid financial struggles linked to INEOS.
Promoters Barry Hearn and Eddie Hearn also joined Britain’s billionaire ranks, with a combined estimated wealth of £1.035 billion.
