Real Madrid has officially concluded its internal disciplinary investigation involving midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni, confirming financial penalties of €500,000 each following a recent squad incident.
The club announced the decision in an official statement released on Friday, bringing an end to days of speculation surrounding tensions inside the Real Madrid dressing room.
According to the statement, both players appeared before the disciplinary investigator assigned to the case and accepted responsibility for their actions during the proceedings.
“During said appearance, the players showed their total regret for what happened and have apologised to each other,” the club stated.
Real Madrid also confirmed that both midfielders apologized not only to one another, but also to teammates, coaching staff, club officials, and supporters.
The club added that Valverde and Tchouaméni made themselves fully available to accept whatever disciplinary action management considered necessary.
As a result, Real Madrid imposed a financial sanction of €500,000 on each player, formally closing the internal disciplinary process.
While the club did not publicly restate the details of the original incident, the matter had already attracted major attention after reports emerged of a heated confrontation between the two players during training.
The situation escalated into one of the biggest off-field stories surrounding the club this week, especially after earlier reports linked the altercation to dressing room tensions during a difficult season for the Spanish giants.
Valverde had previously denied reports of a physical fight, explaining that the forehead injury he sustained occurred after he accidentally hit a table during the confrontation.
The club’s latest statement appears aimed at drawing a clear line under the issue while reinforcing accountability standards within the squad.
The timing is significant.
Real Madrid is entering a crucial stage of the season, with pressure already mounting due to inconsistent performances, internal scrutiny, and the looming El Clásico showdown against FC Barcelona.
In that context, the club’s decision to resolve the matter quickly and publicly may also be an effort to prevent further distractions inside the dressing room.
The sanctions underline how seriously Real Madrid treats internal discipline, particularly when incidents risk affecting squad harmony and public image.
At the same time, the fact that both players apologized and accepted punishment suggests the club is more focused on restoring unity than prolonging the conflict.
For supporters, the attention now shifts back to football.
With key fixtures approaching and expectations remaining high despite the turbulent campaign, Real Madrid will hope the resolution of the disciplinary case allows the team to refocus entirely on the pitch.
