Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has sparked fresh reactions on social media after sharing a post about surviving relationships with narcissists, days after speculation emerged about trouble in her marriage to her husband, Bobby Maris.
The actress reposted a message from a relationship coach on her Instagram Story, offering advice on how to deal with people described as narcissists.
The post explained that narcissists often keep people around for what they can gain from them, whether through money or unpaid labour, and urged victims to stop overextending themselves for people who refuse to appreciate their efforts.
Part of the message read:
“A narcissist keeps useful people around for two reasons: free labor or money. That is why doing more never gives you more respect.”
It continued:
“If they are using you for money, become stingy with money. If they are using you for labor, become stingy with effort. A narcissist only notices your effort when it is no longer unlimited.”
The post also encouraged people, especially those already married and raising children, to protect themselves and their families rather than continually sacrificing for someone who exploits them.
Uche’s post comes shortly after fans noticed that she and her husband, Bobby Maris, had unfollowed each other on Instagram, fueling speculation about a possible crisis in their marriage.
The rumours gained further attention after Bobby shared a cryptic message that read:
“The crown wife is not fit for every woman’s head.”
Neither Uche nor Bobby has publicly addressed the speculation or confirmed any problems in their relationship.
Uche Ogbodo and Bobby Maris got married in January 2023 and have two children together.
The actress also has a daughter from a previous relationship.
While the latest Instagram Story has prompted renewed discussion among fans, Uche did not mention her husband or indicate that the post was related to her personal life. As a result, its intended meaning remains open to interpretation.
