A video showing how to tell the difference between genuine and fake naira notes is going viral.
The video’s virality follows reports that the new naira notes are already being counterfeited, just four days after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) distributed them to the public through the country’s commercial banks.
In the video, a victim of the counterfeited new notes could be heard lamenting that his wife, who operates a Point of Sale (PoS) machine was given a counterfeited N1,000 new naira note.
Comparing the counterfeited 1,000 naira note with the original, the man called on Nigerians to watch out for the customized seal on the original note and use it to identify it from the fake ones now in circulation.
