Fans sue Madonna for ‘false advertising’ after concert started two hours late

Madonna is currently facing a lawsuit, as two of her fans are suing her for commencing her concerts two hours behind schedule.

The legal action follows the singer’s delayed start to her New York shows in December.

The concert in Brooklyn, which was supposed to begin at 8:30 pm, only commenced at 10:30 pm.

According to ticket holders Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden, this caused them to be “stranded in the middle of the night” with limited access to public transportation.

The lawsuit, which was obtained by TMZ said: “Defendants’ actions constitute not just a breach of their contracts … but also a wanton exercise in false advertising, negligent misrepresentation, and unfair and deceptive trade practices.”

The lawsuit also includes a claim of “negligent misrepresentation”, saying the concert organisers “knew or should have known” that the concerts would not start at 8:30pm because of alleged past instances of Madonna taking the stage late.

Furthermore, they claim that the concert’s tardiness meant they had to awake early the next day to fulfill work and family obligations.

Had they known the show would commence much later than advertised, the men assert that they would not have purchased tickets.

In the first leg of her US tour earlier in the year, Madonna was slammed for starting her show at 11pm instead of 8.30pm. The delay was blamed on technical issues. Organisers said the start time had only been delayed by one hour as the opening act, DJ Honey Dijon, took the stage at 8:30pm.

The Celebration Tour covers all of Madonna’s biggest hits.
