According to Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez, his team is unable to challenge Real Madrid for the La Liga title due to the way referees handle their matches.
Xavi believes that Madrid has influenced Spanish referees through their television channel, which puts Barcelona at a disadvantage.
He has previously stated that LaLiga officials show favoritism towards Madrid, hindering Barcelona’s ability to compete for the championship.
Xavi remains firm in his stance but acknowledges that Barcelona’s own Caso Negreira scandal has not helped their situation.
“I already said that I don’t like that they [Madrid] condition the referees, but they continue to do it every week. The referees are going to whistle- conditioned.
“The ‘Negreira case’ hasn’t helped us either, but that’s what we have to compete with.
“I agree one hundred percent with the president’s words. It’s a reality and we can’t deceive Barcelona fans,” Xavi said
