Harry Kane breaks 60-year record in Bayern Munich’s 5-2 win over Darmstadt

Harry Kane bags hat-trick as Bayern Munich decimate Mainz 8-1

Harry Kane made Bundesliga history again, shattering a 60-year-old record during Bayern Munich’s 5-2 victory over Darmstadt.

In Kane’s remarkable season, he continued with his 31st goal in Germany’s top flight.

He has now overtaken Hamburg icon Uwe Seeler’s rookie season record from 1963/64.

Just before halftime, the former Tottenham forward headed in Joshua Kimmich’s cross to put Bayern ahead for the first time.

Tim Skarke had earlier opened the scoring for the hosts Darmstadt before Jamal Musiala leveled in the 36th minute.

Kane’s goal put Bayern ahead shortly before the first-half whistle.

Musiala scored a brace in the second half to extend Bayern’s lead. Minutes later, Serge Gnabry also found the back of the net.

Mathys Tels compounded Darmstadt’s woes with another goal in stoppage time before Oscar Wilhelmsson’s late consolation strike brought the final score to 5-2.

Kane’s performance serves as a warning to Arsenal, who are set to face Bayern Munich in the upcoming Champions League quarter-finals.

Since he joined Bayern, the English captain returned to North London for the first time.
