People misunderstood Wizkid’s comment on Afrobeat – Joeboy

Nigerian singer Joeboy has come to the defense of his Grammy-winning colleague Wizkid, stating that Wizkid’s recent comments on Afrobeats were taken out of context.

Joeboy believes that Wizkid was misunderstood and was not actually distancing himself from Afrobeats, despite the backlash he received for his remarks.

This was discussed during a recent episode of the Big Friday Day Show with Tacha on Cool FM in Lagos.

He said, “Wizkid’s statement is being misunderstood, he is not running away from Afrobeats. All we are saying is our identity is Afrobeats but please don’t box us because we can make other genres of music too.”
