A report by Reuters has revealed that three U.S. officials have confirmed the U.S. military intercepted and brought down Iranian drone aircraft on Saturday.
However, they did not provide specific details on the number of drones downed or the exact locations.
Late Saturday night, the Israeli military reported that Iran had launched over 100 explosives-laden drones towards Israel.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps of Iran confirmed the attack, potentially heightening tensions between the two nations.
In response, the United States expressed support for Israel.
In a warning issued on the social media platform X, Iran’s mission to the United Nations urged the U.S. to stay out of the conflict between Iran and Israel.
They cautioned that if Israel retaliates, Tehran’s response would be even more severe.
Iran’s actions come in the wake of what it perceives as an Israeli attack on its Damascus consulate on April 1, resulting in the deaths of seven Guards officers, including two senior commanders.
Iran has declared its retaliation as a response to what it calls “Israeli crimes,” although Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement in the consulate attack.
