Luis Enrique, Paris Saint-Germain’s head coach, believes his side will play better next season without star striker Kylian Mbappe.
The announcement comes hours after Mbappé announced his exit from his local club after the season.
Following the player’s departure, Enrique addressed the media during a news conference and expressed confidence in his team’s performance in the coming season.
“We have known this for a long time,” he stated, referring to Mbappé’s decision to leave PSG. “It doesn’t change the general picture.”
“We all knew that Kylian Mbappé was going to leave PSG. No changes, it’s all the same for us. I wish Mbappé all the best.
“I remain convinced that next season we will be stronger. Mark my words. PSG will be stronger next season,” the gaffer added.
Enrique also lauded Mbappé for his outstanding contributions to his team, including helping them win the French Ligue 1.
“All I can say is good things about Mbappé and his brother.”
While Mbappé’s destination remains undisclosed, Enrique acknowledged the widespread speculation linking him to Real Madrid.
“He hasn’t said where he’s going yet, even though we think it’s clear,” he said.
