Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has expressed uncertainty about the timeline for new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca to achieve success at the club.
Maresca had a successful track record at the City Football Academy, winning three consecutive Premier League 2 titles with the Elite Development Squad. After a short tenure at Parma, he returned to work on Guardiola’s coaching staff in 2022.
His achievements at City included winning the Treble, and later he led Leicester City back to the Premier League in the 2023/2024 season. This success ultimately landed him the Chelsea job in the summer.
Guardiola said: “He did a really good job at Leicester. I wish him all the best because he deserves it. Nice people deserve the best.
“As a manager to have success, the most important thing is you must believe in something deeply and no matter the results, stick with the idea.
“That’s why he believes in what he does. He will have success – I don’t know how long, but he will have it.”
