‘It broke me’ – Lil Wayne speaks on not getting 2025 Super Bowl halftime show

American rapper Lil Wayne has expressed his disappointment in not being chosen as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, stating that it was a heartbreaking experience for him.

Following criticism from Nicki Minaj and his fans towards Jay-Z for selecting Kendrick Lamar over Wayne, Lil Wayne took responsibility for not being mentally prepared for the letdown.

In a viral video message, he mentioned that headlining the Super Bowl in his hometown of New Orleans would have been a great honor for him.

Despite the setback, Lil Wayne is now focused on moving past the disappointment.

“That hurt a lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. I thought there was nothing better than that stage in my city… It broke me and I’m just trying to put me back together,” he said.
