Davido shares new photos, as he reflects

Afrobeats artist Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has clarified his involvement in the ongoing Edo State governorship election.

Davido has been speaking out against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for alleged irregularities in the election. Some have questioned why he is so invested in this particular election when he is not a native of Edo State.

Responding to these questions on his social media platform, Davido revealed that his late mother, Imade Veronica Adeleke, was from Edo State. He also emphasized that being a Nigerian, he feels a responsibility to be concerned about political matters in the country.

Davido mentioned that he had previously criticized INEC during the Osun State gubernatorial election when his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, was a candidate.

The singer wrote, “My mom is from Edo for those wondering why I’m interested in the election … but we as Nigerians should be concerned sha .. @inecnigeria shame on you I know how many times I had to come in here and rant before they got it right in Osun ! It’s really bad. God help us.”

Recall that the singer had earlier endorsed the PDP candidate Asuen Ighodalo for the Edo gubernatorial election via his Instagram account.
