Ligue 1: Mbappe acquires 80% stake in French club SM Caen

Mbappe officially unveiled as new Real Madrid player, to wear no 9

At just 25 years old, Kylian Mbappe has taken over the majority ownership of French club SM Caen, securing an 80% stake in the team.

The Real Madrid forward made the purchase through his company, Interconnected Ventures, with approval from the DNCG regulatory body.

Former majority shareholder Pierre-Antoine Capton has reduced his stake to 20% following the €20 million deal, which was announced in the summer and has now been made official.

Currently sitting in 13th place in Ligue 2, SM Caen is aiming for promotion to Ligue 1 under Mbappe’s ownership. Despite his active playing career, Mbappe‘s role as an owner is expected to boost the club’s profile.
