In a viral interview, singer Tems discussed her early challenges and how her life changed after meeting Wizkid.
She recalls initially wanting to perform at a neighborhood tavern every Friday, but they turned her down because they did not have music.
Motivated, she proceeded to create more music and, in 2019, released “Try Me” with a video.
Shortly after, she learned Wizkid wanted to meet her, which led to their iconic collaboration on “Essence.”
Tems shared that, for a while, she felt aimless and went with the flow until she launched her EP.
Reflecting on her journey, she wished she had dreamed bigger, feeling it might have prepared her better for the demands of fame.
