Dele Farotimi, a human rights lawyer, has been granted bail by the Ekiti State High Court.
He was granted bail in the amount of N50 million, with a surety who must possess a landed property of the same value. The case has been adjourned to January 29, 2025, for further proceedings.
Babalola, aged 95, accused Farotimi of defamation in a book titled Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.
The arrest caused widespread outrage, leading civil society organizations and the Nigerian Bar Association to demand Farotimi’s release.
