Lil Durk linked to 2022 Chicago murder

Rapper, Lil Durk’s attempted murder charge dropped

Federal authorities have linked Chicago rapper Lil Durk to a deadly shooting incident that transpired in 2022.

This development emerges prior to a scheduled detention hearing pertaining to his ongoing legal disputes regarding the homicide of fellow rapper King Von.

Recently unsealed court documents provide insight into the rapper’s purported involvement in the homicide of gang leader Stephon Mack.

Lil Durk, whose full name is Durk Devontay Banks, is recognized as a leading figure within the Chicago-based hip-hop subgenre known as drill music. The father of five has been identified as the mastermind behind the calculated shooting death on January 27, 2022, of 24-year-old Mack, who was fatally shot outside the Youth Peace Centre of Roseland in Chicago.

At the time of his demise, Mack was the leader of a faction of the Gangster Disciples, one of the most notorious street gangs operating in Chicago.

According to the court filings presented in the US District Court in Chicago, Lil Durk allegedly incentivized individuals to eliminate members of rival gangs whom he believed were responsible for the death of his brother, Dontay, in 2021.

Durk has yet to face formal charges in relation to Mack’s murder. In the meantime, federal investigators have meticulously examined the evidence, which includes prison phone calls, social media communications, and the lyrics of Durk’s song “Ahhh Ha,” released shortly after the shooting incident.
