Nollywood actor, filmmaker, and comedian Ayodeji Richard Makun, recognized professionally as Makun, has expressed his concerns regarding the insufficient support from his peers.
Recently, Ay Makun unveiled his much-anticipated film, The Waiter, in theaters. The film features a talented cast including Regina Daniels, Seyi Okanlawon, Toke Makinwa, Ayo Makun, among others.
In light of the film’s reception and apparent low audience turnout, the father of two took to the micro-blogging platform X, as well as his Instagram account, to voice his grievances about the lack of backing from his contemporaries.
AY Makun criticized how men tend to support only those with “breasts and yansh,” despite the fact that men also strive diligently to remain relevant and fulfill their obligations.
He proudly declared himself as the last man standing in the filmmaking industry who has not surrendered, pledging to persist in promoting his film independently.
Sharing a screenshot of his tweet on his Instagram page, AY Makun wrote:
“One day man go tell man “wetin man do man”. We work so hard to stay relevant and take care of our responsibilities. Must we have breast and yansh to have the support of our fellow men?
I am still the only man left in the business of filmmaking who is yet to give it all up. THE WAITER is a beautiful movie. I will continue to PERSONALLY push it with my full chest in cinemas nationwide. I am too legit to quit.”
