President Joe Biden has granted pardons to Dr. Anthony Fauci, Gen. Mark Milley, and several others amid concerns of potential investigations under the upcoming Trump administration.
Biden’s pardons were issued shortly before his departure from the White House and the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
According to Fox News, the pardons extend to numerous individuals connected to the January 6 select committee probe.
“The pardon applies to members of Congress and staff who served on the Select Committee, and the U.S. Capitol and D.C. Metropolitan police officers who testified before the Select Committee.
“These are exceptional circumstances, and I cannot in good conscience do nothing.
“Baseless and politically motivated investigations wreak havoc on the lives, safety and financial security of targeted individuals and their families.
“Alarmingly, public servants have been subjected to ongoing threats and intimidation for faithfully discharging their duties,” Biden wrote in a statement.
