Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage has shared a heartfelt reflection on her plans for 2025. She opened up about her first solo vacation and the transformative experience it brought her.
Taking to social media, the Somebody’s Son singer revealed:
“My first assignment was to go on vacation for at least a week by myself. I have never even been to a restaurant or to the movies by myself, let alone a whole vacation. I was sooo nervous.”
Tiwa explained that she took a leap of faith, packing her bags and heading to the Maldives with just her essentials: audiobooks, her Bible, a selfie stick, kaftans, bikinis, and her radiant self.
Overcoming Fears and Embracing Solitude
Initially apprehensive about the idea of dining and relaxing alone, Tiwa admitted:
“Even when I travel, I’m usually in my hotel room alone most of the time, but I always have my team around just in case I need anything.”
However, the experience turned out to be life-changing. After conquering her fears on the first day, she immersed herself in audiobooks, prayer, and introspection:
“I lived in every single moment and just kept thanking God for the life I live… the grace over me.”
Lessons in Gratitude and Self-Love
The time alone led her to reflect on her blessings, including her family, career, friends, and faith. Tiwa shared a candid moment of vulnerability:
“At some point, I cried when I thought of how much time I’ve wasted on people and things that distracted me, made me feel insecure, and ultimately took me away from true love/God’s love.”
In those quiet moments, Tiwa realized a powerful truth:
“I started falling in love with myself, my personality, my humor, my quirks, my skin, my hair, my everything. I realized there is really nothing to change — I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ENOUGH.”
Promises for the Future
True to her word, Tiwa’s son joined her after her solo retreat as part of her commitment to creating unforgettable memories with him:
