Kanye West and Bianca Censori’s 2025 Grammy event may have resulted in the forfeiture of a $20 million (£16 million) concert agreement in Tokyo for the rapper.
West was scheduled to perform a duo of shows at the Tokyo Dome in May; however, following his wife’s exhibitionist display on the red carpet at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday evening, those financing the performances are reassessing the agreement, as reported by the Daily Mail.
According to the outlet, Japanese financiers supporting the concerts are “profoundly dismayed” that West has “entirely misjudged the cultural nuances of Japan” and are likely to retract their financial backing for the events.
Kanye West has been residing in a hotel in Tokyo for the majority of the preceding year.
The artist, known as Ye, is in Japan to work on a forthcoming album titled Bully, which was originally intended for release prior to Christmas but has been “postponed indefinitely.”
While he and Censori occupy their time in the Japanese metropolis, his former spouse Kim Kardashian is attending to their four children in Los Angeles.
Multiple sources have indicated that the rapper appreciates the diminished public scrutiny on the streets and is able to “express his authentic self” in Japan.
West and Censori entered into matrimony in December 2022, merely a month subsequent to the finalization of his divorce from Kardashian.
The couple engaged in a private nuptial ceremony, although there exists no verifiable documentation of a marriage certificate ever being submitted.
