Lionel Messi’s bodyguard banned by MLS

I can never forget – Messi's bodyguard, Cheuko reveals what Argentina captain did to him

Yassine Cheuko, the bodyguard for Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi, announced that he can no longer provide as much assistance to the player due to a ban from Major League Soccer, MLS. A former Navy SEAL, Cheuko has been working with Messi since the player’s move to the US in 2023, when it was determined that the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner required personal security while in America.

Cheuko has been visible during MLS matches, deterring pitch-invading fans who sought to approach Messi.

Despite his efforts, MLS has restricted Cheuko’s involvement, confining him to protecting Messi behind the scenes and prohibiting him from stepping onto the field.

He told House of Highlights: “They don’t allow me to be on the field anymore.”

Cheuko, speaking on the problems that MLS face with Messi, added: “I was in Europe for seven years working for Ligue 1 and the Champions League, and only six people invaded the pitch.

“I arrived in the United States, and in 20 months of work, 16 people have already invaded the pitch. There’s a huge problem here. I’m not the problem. Let me help Messi.”
