In honor of Luis Enrique’s daughter, PSG fans paid tribute as the Spanish coach led the club to Champions League victory.
Xana, who tragically lost her battle with osteosarcoma at the age of nine in 2019, was a beloved presence during the coach’s previous successes with Barcelona.
The emotional documentary detailing their bond was released earlier this season, showcasing Luis Enrique’s strength and vulnerability.
“The most negative experiences of your life are the ones that teach you the most. [People might think:] ‘But your little girl, your daughter, died aged nine…’. My daughter came to live with us for nine wonderful years. We have a thousand memories of her,” he said. “You may ask whether I consider myself fortunate or unfortunate. I consider myself to have been fortunate. Very fortunate.”
In a poignant moment, PSG supporters displayed a banner showing Xana celebrating with her father on the field in the club’s home kit after their historic win over Inter.
