“Never have I sweated so much” – Enhle Mbali Leaves Fans in Stitches with Hilarious Throwback to Her Sweaty AMAA Experience in Nigeria

Enhle Mbali Leaves Fans in Stitches

Actress and fashionista Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa recently had her fans laughing out loud after sharing a hilarious throwback memory on Instagram.

The Blood Legacy star posted a hilarious #storytime recalling her first trip to Nigeria for the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), a career milestone that came with an unexpected twist.

“So this just popped up on my Apple photos, and I immediately started laughing,” she began, setting the tone for the comical flashback.

Nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Queenstown Kings, Enhle was excited about her first visit to Nigeria in November 2024. But what she didn’t expect was the full-force impact of the country’s tropical heat.

“Little did I know whilst designing this dress how tropical the weather is. (To my defence, I did my DD — but the experience was very different),” she explained.

Her outfit for the big night? A gorgeous latex gown by designer Essie Couture — beautiful but brutal in the Nigerian climate.

“Listen, the dress itself was a flame. But never have I sweated so much in my life under this latex,” she said. “If ever there was a water disparity, I could’ve been of assistance in alleviating the problem.”

With a fan in hand, Enhle tried to keep cool, but the heat had other plans. Still, she managed to turn the moment into a fan-favorite memory.

“I had the best jellof I’ve ever had in my life, but I left Nigeria five sizes smaller after sweating under this Essie Couture. THE FAN IS NOT FOR AESTHETICS.”

Her Instagram post, complete with pictures of her sizzling look (and literal sweat), quickly went viral. Celebrities and fans flooded her comments with love and laughter.

Actress Gabisile Tshabalala quipped, “Mara at least you were hot (no pun intended).”

Another fan chimed in, “The price of beauty… looked gorgeous though,” with rows of laughing emojis.

Despite the heatwave in latex, Enhle’s red carpet appearance was a hit — and her ability to laugh at herself made the story even better.

According to IOL, her nomination at the 20th edition of the AMAA, held on November 2, 2024, at the Balmoral Centre in Ikeja, Nigeria, celebrated her standout performance in The Queenstown Kings. The South African film, directed by Jahmil X.T Qubeka, also earned nominations for Zolisa Xaluva (Best Actor), Tessa Twala, and Sandile Mahlangu (Best Supporting Actor).
