UK-based Nigerian reality TV star Tacha has sparked controversy online after openly criticizing prominent pastors in Nigeria, particularly reacting to the recent viral video involving House on the Rock founder, Pastor Paul Adefarasin.
In a video posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account, Tacha addressed the circulating footage where Pastor Adefarasin was seen pointing what appeared to be a pistol-like object at a car spotter in Lagos. While Adefarasin later claimed the object was not a firearm and accused the spotter of being aggressive, Tacha dismissed the pastor’s explanation as manipulative and misleading.
“Let’s call a spade a spade. We all saw the video. That was not aggression from the spotter. In fact, the boy was hailing the pastor. It was Adefarasin who stopped, wound down his window, and pointed something that looked like a gun. That’s what we saw,” she said.
Tacha also questioned the reaction of Adefarasin’s congregation, who reportedly applauded his clarification during a church service.
“What are you people clapping for? Didn’t you watch the same video the rest of us saw, or is it selective blindness?” she asked.
A Broader Criticism of Nigerian Pastors
Beyond Adefarasin, Tacha slammed the perceived impunity among Nigerian pastors, arguing that such behavior would never be tolerated abroad.
“Ninety per cent of Nigerian pastors wouldn’t get away with this nonsense outside Nigeria. The kind of religion they practice here? Their churches wouldn’t last a year abroad,” she said.
She also accused Nigerians of applying double standards, suggesting that if political figures like Seyi Tinubu or Nyesom Wike had been involved in such an incident, the public outcry would have been much louder.
Referencing past reports of Pastor Adefarasin allegedly smashing a vehicle’s windscreen in traffic, Tacha added:
“This is someone who reportedly endangered passengers last year and now wants to paint a young boy with a camera as a threat? It’s absurd. Let’s stop being hypocrites.”
Public Reaction
Tacha’s bold statements have ignited mixed reactions on social media. While some users praised her for her honesty and courage to speak truth to power, others accused her of disrespecting revered religious leaders.
The incident continues to trend online, sparking debates over pastoral accountability, celebrity activism, and public perception of Nigerian church leaders.
