Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has commended Princess Opeyemi Bright, the Mayor of Barking and Dagenham in the United Kingdom, for her exceptional leadership and dedication to community development.
The NiDCOM boss made the commendation during a courtesy visit to Princess Bright—who is currently the youngest serving mayor in the UK—at her residence in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
Dabiri-Erewa described Bright as a symbol of excellence, resilience, and inspiration for young Nigerians in the diaspora. She noted that the mayor’s rise to public office at a young age reflects the impact Nigerian youths can make when given the opportunity.
“This is what we mean when we say the Nigerian diaspora is a force for good,” she said. “Princess Bright is a shining example of how Nigerian youth, when given the platform, can lead, inspire, and positively impact their communities. Her story is one of dedication, hard work, and resilience, and we are proud of her achievements.”
The NiDCOM chairman further reiterated the Commission’s commitment to supporting young Nigerians abroad, stressing the importance of nurturing their leadership potential and fostering inclusive partnerships that drive innovation and development.
“We remain open to collaborations that empower our youths and project Nigeria positively on the global stage,” she added.
