Rivers : I Want Peace – Fubara Disowns 2027 Campaign Materials

Emergency Rule: Fubara makes first public appearance after suspension in Rivers

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has distanced himself from campaign materials circulating in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Addressing his supporters in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Fubara stated unequivocally that he did not approve the production of any caps, shirts, or other items linked to a 2027 campaign, expressing frustration over the development.

“I was pissed off. Someone forwarded to me a video showing where they were producing campaign materials—caps and shirts—for the 2027 general elections,” he said.
“I am not aware of it, and I did not authorise or send anyone.”

Fubara, who was suspended for six months following a heated political standoff with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, stressed that his current focus is on fostering peace and stability in the state.

“Every one of us should understand that we have done our best, and what we need now is this peace for us to grow,” he added.

His comments come just days after President Bola Tinubu intervened to resolve the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State. The president had earlier declared a state of emergency in the state and suspended all elected officials, including Fubara.

With tensions easing following the Abuja peace meeting, Fubara appears committed to rebuilding unity rather than fueling fresh political ambitions.
