Controversial social media influencer, VeryDarkMan, has triggered a wave of reactions online following comments he made about Benue State, describing it as the “most underdeveloped” place he has ever visited.
In a viral video posted after a recent trip to the state, the outspoken figure claimed Benue still felt like it was stuck in the 1940s.
“Benue is still in the year 1940. It is the most underdeveloped state I have ever been to,” he declared.
VeryDarkMan further criticized the poor state of infrastructure and rising insecurity, warning that such conditions were deterring potential investors.
“Investors can’t come because of bad roads and insecurity,” he said. “I’m currently drilling a borehole in Yelwata, but the people can’t continue the work because they are afraid of being killed.”
VeryDarkMan remarks have since sparked intense debate online, with some agreeing with his assessment and others accusing him of being insensitive and disrespectful to the people of Benue.
