Malesela Teffo Reignites Senzo Meyiwa Case, Alleges Kelly Khumalo Pulled the Trigger

‘I’m tired of being angry’: Kelly Khumalo ‘ready to fix things’ with her sister

Controversial former advocate Malesela Teffo has stirred fresh outrage and debate in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial after making explosive allegations during a recent appearance on the popular Podcast and Chill with MacG.

In the episode, which premiered on Thursday, July 17, 2025, Teffo claimed that the five men currently on trial for the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper are innocent. That singer, Kelly Khumalo, was the one who accidentally shot Senzo during a heated altercation.

“What I can tell you is that for sure, those five guys are innocent,” Teffo stated. “They’ve got good alibis. Accused numbers one and two were in KZN the day Senzo was shot and killed in that house.”

Allegations Against Kelly Khumalo

Teffo insisted the accused men are being used as scapegoats and that the real story has been hidden from the public.

According to him, the tragic incident occurred during a confrontation involving Kelly Khumalo, her sister Zandile, and Longwe Twala, who had come to the Khumalo household in Vosloorus suspecting Zandile was cheating on him with one of Senzo’s friends.

“Senzo was allegedly shot and killed by Kelly [Khumalo]. It was alleged that it was a mistake,” Teffo told MacG.

He further claimed the gun used in the incident belonged to Longwe Twala, son of legendary music producer Chicco Twala.

“I Got It from Eyewitnesses,” Says Teffo

When asked to explain the basis of his claims, Teffo said his information came from what he called “research, investigation, and eyewitness accounts.”

“What I got is from the people who were there,” he insisted, though he did not provide any official documentation or testimony to support the claims.

Background

Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed on October 26, 2014, while visiting Kelly Khumalo’s family home. The case has dragged on for over a decade, with numerous delays, conspiracy theories, and changes in legal representation further complicating the high-profile trial.

Teffo’s latest statements are expected to reignite public scrutiny and possibly influence perceptions around the ongoing trial. However, legal experts caution that without solid evidence, his claims may not hold up in court.

As of now, neither Kelly Khumalo nor her legal team has responded publicly to the allegations.
