“I Would’ve Won Champions League with Chelsea If VAR Existed” – Mourinho

Mourinho

Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho believes he would have clinched the UEFA Champions League title during his time at Chelsea if Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology had been in place.

In an interview with Canal 11, the 62-year-old pointed to Chelsea’s controversial 2005 semi-final loss to Liverpool, referencing Luis Garcia’s infamous “ghost goal” that knocked the Blues out. Mourinho insisted that the absence of goal-line technology at the time cost his side dearly.

Mourinho, who managed Chelsea in two separate spells, never secured Europe’s top club prize with the London club. However, he has won the Champions League twice—first with Porto in 2004 and again with Inter Milan in 2010.

He also came up short in the competition while managing Spanish giants Real Madrid and English side Manchester United.
