Edo State Governor Suspends Oil and Gas Adviser Over Unauthorized Fundraising

Felix Osemwengie Isere, the Special Adviser on Oil and Gas to Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, has been suspended over allegations of unauthorized fundraising tied to a proposed Oil and Gas Summit.

The suspension was announced on Tuesday in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Ikhilor, in Benin City.

According to the SSG, the state government has also cancelled the planned Oil and Gas Summit, which was scheduled to begin on August 7.

“Consequent upon this breach, the proposed summit stands suspended, and Mr. Felix Osemwengie Isere is hereby directed to refund all monies collected from donors in connection with the event,” the statement read.

The government further warned prospective donors and partners to desist from engaging with the suspended aide on any matters relating to the now-cancelled summit.
