Diddy’s Legal Team Denies Asking Donald Trump For A Pardon

Donald Trump Reportedly Responds To Requests To Pardon Diddy

Diddy’s lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, says the Bad Boy mogul’s legal team hasn’t reached out to former President Donald Trump about a pardon, contradicting earlier media reports.

“I have nothing to do with a possible pardon,” Agnifilo told CBS News, as caught by Billboard.

“I have had conversations with nobody. I have not spoken to the president. I have not spoken to anybody who speaks to the president about Sean Combs. I have not.”

The update follows comments made by another member of Diddy’s legal team, Attorney Nicole Westmoreland, who told CNN that communication with Trump had taken place.

“It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,” she told the outlet.

Reports surfaced that Trump was “seriously considering” granting a pardon, though his public stance has shifted. Back in May, he said he would “certainly look at the facts,” according to NBC News. More recently, however, he said the move is unlikely:

“I was very friendly with him, I got along with him great, and he seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well, but when I ran for office, he was very hostile,” Trump said during a Newsmax interview last week.

The legal back-and-forth comes in the wake of Diddy’s criminal trial, where a jury found him not guilty of the most serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering, but convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

While the charges carry a maximum sentence of 20 years, prosecutors have recommended a 4-year sentence. Diddy is scheduled to return to court for sentencing on October 3rd.
