Busta Rhymes has publicly responded to a lawsuit filed by his former assistant, Dashiel Gables, dismissing the claims as a baseless attempt to damage his reputation.
Gables alleges the rapper assaulted him — reportedly punching him in the face for using his phone on the job — causing eye swelling and emotional distress. The suit also accuses Busta of violating state labor laws by failing to pay wages, and seeks millions in damages.
The “Touch It” hitmaker, who turned himself in to police over the incident in January, categorically denied all allegations in a statement, insisting Gables is a “disgruntled former assistant” engaging in an “attempted shake-down.”
Busta revealed he is preparing a countersuit and expressed confidence that “the truth will prevail.”
The lawsuit comes just days after the 53-year-old received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
