Ibom Air has imposed a permanent flight ban on Ms. Comfort Emmanson after she allegedly assaulted multiple crew members on a Uyo–Lagos flight on Sunday, August 10, 2025. The airline described her actions as a serious threat to safety.
According to the carrier, the incident began when Emmanson refused repeated instructions to switch off her mobile phone before take-off. Intervention by another passenger reportedly triggered a verbal outburst, though the flight eventually proceeded as scheduled.
Upon arrival in Lagos, she allegedly waited for other passengers to disembark before attacking the Purser, forcibly tearing off her wig, removing her glasses, throwing them to the floor, and using her footwear to assault her. She also allegedly slapped the crew member several times, attacked another cabin crew member who intervened, and attempted to remove a fire extinguisher to use as a weapon.
The Pilot-in-Command called for airport security, and viral footage captured the Purser preventing Emmanson from leaving the aircraft until help arrived. She was detained by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) security and later handed over to the police for investigation.
Ibom Air alleged that even after security’s arrival, Emmanson continued her violent behaviour, attacking the airline’s security staff and slapping the ground supervisor before being forcibly restrained.
A report has been filed with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, and the airline reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for unruly passengers, warning that such conduct would attract legal action and permanent travel restrictions.
The incident comes less than a week after Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1) was accused of preventing a ValueJet Airlines aircraft from taking off in Abuja.
