Kaya 959 presenter, DJ, and podcaster Sol Phenduka has finally addressed the reason behind his sudden suspension from the station.
Fans were left stunned after Kaya 959 released a statement on Wednesday, August 20, confirming that Sol, born Solomzi Phenduka, would not be on air starting Thursday, August 21. According to the station, the suspension took immediate effect while an internal process is ongoing.
“The station is committed to following due process, and no further details will be shared at this stage. Updates will be provided once the internal process has been concluded and a final decision has been reached,” the statement read.
The announcement triggered widespread speculation online, with many believing the suspension could be linked to legal action reportedly taken by Minnie Dlamini following remarks made on Podcast and Chill.
Breaking his silence, Sol addressed the issue during Thursday’s episode of the podcast, urging fans to hear his side of the story.
“This happened this morning. When I left the meeting, they said don’t say anything. So, I don’t say anything because of the confidentiality clause. But I did nothing,” Sol explained.
His co-host MacG (Macgyver Mukwevho), who also previously worked at Kaya 959, weighed in, saying the station seemed to have already made up its mind about Sol.
“Writing is on the wall. It’s quite clear where this is going. But I lasted though,” MacG said.
Kaya 959, however, insists the matter is being handled fairly. “Kaya 959 confirms that presenter Sol Phenduka has been placed on suspension with immediate effect, pending the outcome of an internal process. We want to assure all staff that the matter is being handled with fairness, sensitivity and due process. At this stage, no further details can be shared, but we will keep you informed as soon as there are developments,” the station reiterated.
For now, listeners await the station’s final verdict, while Sol maintains he has done nothing wrong.
