Jameela Jamil has weighed in on Serena Williams’ recent revelation that she’s been using a GLP-1 drug to aid in weight loss.
Williams shared during an appearance on NBC’s Today show that she has lost 31 pounds with the help of the medication. She also debuted as the new face of Ro, a telehealth platform that prescribes weight-loss treatments.
In response, Jameela Jamil expressed concern about the broader implications of celebrities endorsing such drugs.
“The thing I feel most uncomfortable about here is that celebrities have access to doctors most others don’t. These ‘miracle’ weight loss drugs come at a price,” she wrote.
She added,
“If things go wrong, you don’t have a billion dollars to fix it. That’s why I don’t like celebrities pushing drugs with such drastic documented side effects.”
The actress clarified that her comments were not aimed at criticizing Williams personally.
“This is about transparency, not judging Serena. Nor is it judging anyone’s personal decision to take a GLP-1,” she stated.
