Anto Lecky Opens Up on Workplace Stereotypes After Big Brother Naija

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Anto Lecky has shared her experience with workplace stereotypes stemming from her reality TV background.

Speaking at an event in a video shared on Monday, Anto said many companies initially judged her unfairly because of her time on the show.

“You do not want to work for a company that does not allow you to prove yourself,” she noted.

Anto explained that women from the show were often wrongly perceived.

“Many years ago, everyone had this idea that people who go on Big Brother, especially women, were there to sell themselves — and I don’t mean professionally,” she said.

She admitted the bias sometimes made it hard for people to take her seriously in professional spaces but maintained that she never let it discourage her.

“Someone out there is looking for the skills that you have. Don’t worry about the people who are not looking for you,” she encouraged.

Anto also advised young professionals to join supportive groups and communities early in their careers, stressing the importance of continuous learning and resilience.

Since leaving BBNaija in 2018, the Nigerian-American has built a diverse career. With a background in sports management, she previously served as head of operations for the first Pan-African basketball league.

She has since launched a haircare brand, founded a creative agency (Room 22), and starred in Nollywood films, including Besieged and Dear Affy.
