Nigeria’s Problems Did Not Start With Tinubu – SGF Akume

Minimum wage: I can’t afford to pay my four drivers N100,000 per month – SGF Akume

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has said Nigeria’s current challenges predate the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking on Sunday at a special service to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja, Akume stressed that Tinubu has already begun implementing robust reforms aimed at addressing longstanding issues.

“Each Nigerian has a role in building the Nigeria that we deserve,” he said, urging citizens to contribute to nation-building.

The former Benue State governor highlighted some of the reforms already embarked upon by the President, including the removal of fuel subsidy, while reaffirming Tinubu’s commitment to transforming the nation.

“The President needs the support of every Nigerian. What President Bola Tinubu is doing today could have been done 39 years ago. But I believe that at the end of the tunnel, there is light,” Akume added.
