It looks like there’s some fashionable drama brewing in the music world as Yung Miami has called out Tyla for allegedly stealing her song concept.
The former City Girls rapper took to social media on Wednesday, October 16, claiming the South African star “ran off” with her song idea after she previewed it to her.
Miami’s comments came shortly after Tyla officially announced her upcoming single titled “Chanel,” which drops on October 24 and is now available for pre-order.
The Backstory: “Take Me to Chanel”
Yung Miami has been teasing her own Chanel-inspired track titled “Take Me to Chanel” since early 2023 — a slogan she first popularized after going on a viral shopping spree with Diddy at a Chanel store.
Fans have eagerly waited for the full release, especially after Miami referenced the experience in snippets shared online earlier this year.
But when Tyla started teasing her own Chanel-themed song, fans couldn’t help but draw comparisons.
Tyla’s “Chanel” Teasers Spark Confusion
Tyla first hinted at her new track back on September 8, when she captioned an Instagram post wearing a vintage Chanel top with: “PUT ME IN CHANELLLLL @mtv Thanks Tygrssssss.”
She followed it up on October 2 with a video of models Anok Yai and Alton Mason vibing to the unreleased track. Her version features the lyrics: “You say you love, you’ll put me in Chanel.”
By October 13, Tyla had even performed a playful snippet online before confirming the song’s release date days later.
Yung Miami Fires Back
Following Tyla’s announcement, Yung Miami tweeted:
“…And ion know how to feel about it mind you I played this song for this girl.”
She later added,
“Like… Bitch I’m confused.”
After The Shade Room reposted her tweet, Miami confirmed that she was referring to her unreleased track “Take Me to Chanel.”
When a fan suggested she took too long to release her song, the rapper fired back:
“Don’t matter, it’s my mf song!!!”
She also retweeted a post naming Tyla and captioned it:
“Let’s talk about it!!!”
Fans React to the “Chanel” Controversy
Social media has since been buzzing with debates over whether Tyla was inspired by Miami’s earlier work or simply drew from the same luxury brand concept.
While Tyla has yet to respond publicly, Yung Miami maintains that she shared her version of the song with the “Water” hitmaker before Tyla’s teasers began surfacing.
For now, both songs — “Take Me to Chanel” and “Chanel” — remain at the center of an internet-wide discussion about originality, influence, and timing in the music industry.
