Nollywood actress Anita Joseph has publicly criticized politician Ned Nwoko for allegedly intimidating the family of his wife, Regina Daniels, amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the actress and her detained brother, Samuel “Sammy West” Daniels.
Taking to her Instagram page on Friday, Anita said she normally avoids commenting on marital issues but could not stay silent in this case, describing the situation as “unfair” and “unacceptable.”
“I no dey put mouth for husband and wife matter, but you see this one eh, e no nice at all. Only in Nigeria this will happen. Why are you bullying your wife’s family? Did you even leave room for reconciliation? Free Sammy now! If Regina wants out, then let her be. Marriage isn’t by force. Shalom,” she wrote.
The actress further questioned why authorities have remained silent despite the public outcry, adding, “This is not fair at all. Wetin happened? Why the bullying? How come no one in government is taking action? Even at this moment, the Lord will not forsake Regina Daniels. God got you, my Darlyn Gina.”
Former beauty queen and ex-wife of Femi Fani-Kayode, Precious Chikwendu, also weighed in, questioning the silence of the Actors Guild of Nigeria and others Regina has supported over the years. She described Nwoko’s alleged actions as “narcissistic and vicious,” emphasizing that Regina is “too young to be going through this.”
Singer Jaywon criticized Regina’s inner circle, saying her recent posts reveal “a lack of maturity and self-awareness,” while other celebrities — including Charly Boy, Mercy Johnson, Mercy Aigbe, Yvonne Jegede, and Ruth Kadiri — have also spoken out, calling for calm and justice.
Regina Daniels recently broke down in tears in a viral video, lamenting her brother’s continued detention and expressing emotional exhaustion. She hinted at possibly returning to her husband if that would help bring peace to her family.
Meanwhile, a Change.org petition demanding Sammy West’s release and an investigation into Ned Nwoko’s alleged abuse of power has already gathered over 34,000 signatures.
