Spain FA Expresses Surprise Over Lamine Yamal’s Secret Medical Procedure, Releases Him From Squad

Lamine Yamal’s Secret Medical Procedure

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) medical team has expressed surprise after discovering that Lamine Yamal underwent an invasive radiofrequency treatment for pubic discomfort on the same day Spain’s training camp commenced — without prior notification to their medical staff.

According to reports, the RFEF doctors only received information about the procedure late that night, through a medical report recommending 7–10 days of rest for the teenage Barcelona forward.

Following this development, the federation decided to release Yamal from the national team call-up, prioritizing his health, safety, and full recovery before returning to action.

The 18-year-old winger has been dealing with persistent pubic discomfort, and the timing of the treatment reportedly caught Spain’s medical department off guard, given that no prior communication had been made by Barcelona’s medical team.

Yamal has been one of Barcelona’s standout performers this season, with consistent displays for both club and country, but his workload has raised concerns among coaches and medical professionals.

The RFEF emphasized that while the player’s welfare remains the top priority, proper coordination between club and national team medical departments is essential to prevent future misunderstandings.
