The Federal High Court in Lagos has issued a summons for former Brila FM employee Babafemi Raji, popularly known as Topmost Striker, in a N100 million fraud case filed by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Raji is charged alongside two former colleagues from the sports radio station, Akakan Sam and Blessing Ekerete. All three were expected to be arraigned on Thursday, December 4, but only Sam and Ekerete appeared in court.
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa ordered the registrar to issue a formal summons compelling Raji to appear at the next hearing, noting his repeated absence. At a previous sitting in November, the court had directed that all defendants be tried in absentia, yet Raji remained the only one missing during Thursday’s session.
In the charge marked FHC/L/530/2025, counts one to four accuse Raji, Sam, and Ekerete of conspiracy, fraud, and money laundering. The fifth count, which lists Raji alone, alleges that he used Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, and X to bully, threaten, and harass Brila FM founder Larry Izamoje.
According to the prosecution, Raji’s alleged conduct placed Izamoje in fear of death, violence, or bodily harm, in violation of Section 24(2)(3)(a & b) of the Cybercrimes Act.
Following the proceedings, Justice Lewis-Allagoa adjourned the matter to January 30, 2026.
Raji resigned from Brila FM in 2024 after 16 years and nine months with the organisation. In his resignation letter dated May 27, 2024, he said he was leaving to pursue another opportunity and publicly stated that he was willing to assist in training his replacement and completing ongoing projects.
