Temilade Openiyi, the Grammy-winning Nigerian singer popularly known as Tems, has opened up about the qualities she cannot tolerate in a potential partner.
Speaking during a recent interview with American media outfit Complex, the Love Me Jeje hitmaker said she cannot date men who are unfriendly or lack curiosity about their partner. According to her, the foundation of any meaningful relationship is lost if a person shows no genuine interest in who they are with.
“My dating terms are someone who is not trying to be your friend is a red flag,” Tems said.
“Anybody that isn’t curious about you is also a red flag. Because what are we doing? Why are we here if you don’t want to know me?”
She added that if a partner shows little desire to understand or learn more about their significant other, it’s a sign to walk away.
Tems described herself as a “lover girl,” but noted that past experiences have made her more cautious in relationships. For now, she said she is prioritising self-love and focusing on personal growth.
