American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has expressed sympathy following a road accident involving British heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in Ogun State, Nigeria.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Paul wrote, “Life is much more important than boxing. I am praying for the lost lives, AJ, and anyone impacted by today’s unfortunate accident.”
The message quickly gained traction online, recording over 227,000 views within hours and drawing reactions from fans, athletes, and commentators across the global boxing community.
Paul’s reaction comes just days after his high-profile bout with Joshua on December 20, in which the former unified heavyweight champion delivered a dominant performance, stopping Paul with a sixth-round knockout in their heavyweight clash in Miami. The fight reportedly left Paul with a fractured jaw in two places.
Recall that Joshua survived a fatal road accident on Monday that reportedly claimed two lives. The incident involved a black Lexus SUV carrying Joshua and other occupants that collided with a red Sinotruck in Ogun State.
As of the time of filing this report, no official medical statement has been issued regarding Joshua’s condition or that of other occupants.
The incident has nevertheless sparked widespread concern, with Nigerians and boxing fans around the world offering prayers and well-wishes to those affected.
