You can’t force me to join APC – Bala Mohammed slams FG

Hardship: I'll invite Mr President as our campaign director in 2027 – Gov Bala Mohammed mocks Tinubu

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has cautioned the Federal Government against what he described as efforts to intimidate opposition politicians into defecting to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The governor issued the warning on Wednesday shortly after signing the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law at the Government House in Bauchi.

Mohammed urged the APC-led Federal Government to concentrate on tackling poverty and the rising cost of living affecting Nigerians, rather than deploying state power to weaken opposition parties.

He accused the Federal Government of using anti-corruption agencies to harass and threaten members of opposition parties in an attempt to coerce them into joining the ruling party.

According to the governor, the alleged pressure has extended to him, his family, and officials within his administration, which he described as a calculated move to silence opposing voices in the country.

Mohammed also expressed concern over the conduct of the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, alleging that the electoral body was being positioned to advance the interests of the APC instead of functioning as an impartial umpire as required by the Constitution.

He maintained that intimidation, rumours, or propaganda would not compel him to abandon his political convictions or defect to the ruling party.

“I will continue to stand for justice, fairness and the welfare of Nigerians, and remain committed to the development and progress of Bauchi State,” the governor said.
