Super Eagles Thrash Mozambique 4–0 to Book AFCON Quarter-Final Spot

Nigeria’s Super Eagles continued their impressive run at the Africa Cup of Nations with a dominant 4–0 victory over Mozambique on Monday in Fes, sealing qualification for the quarter-finals in emphatic fashion.

Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 20th minute, firing a powerful effort past goalkeeper Hernâni Siluane to give Nigeria a deserved lead after sustained early pressure.

The Super Eagles doubled their advantage five minutes later, with Victor Osimhen finishing from close range after Lookman delivered a well-timed cross following a build-up involving Alex Iwobi.

Nigeria picked up where they left off after the break, as Osimhen completed his brace just two minutes into the second half. The striker calmly converted from close range after being played in by Lookman, capping a fine individual performance.

The rout was completed in the 75th minute when Adams produced a clinical strike to make it 4–0, effectively putting the result beyond doubt.

Mozambique struggled to cope with Nigeria’s intensity and attacking movement throughout the match. Goalkeepers Siluane and his replacement, Urrubal, were called into action on several occasions, preventing an even heavier defeat, but the Mambas created few clear scoring opportunities of their own.

Nigeria controlled possession, dictated the tempo, and pressed aggressively from start to finish, underlining their status as one of the tournament’s strongest sides.

Despite Mozambique’s late substitutions in an attempt to limit the damage, the Super Eagles maintained their dominance. They comfortably saw out the match to secure their place in the last eight.
