EFCC Probe of Ex-AGF Malami Not Personal — Olukoyede

EFCC Olukoyede Malami

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has clarified that the ongoing investigation of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, is not driven by personal motives.

Olukoyede made the clarification while speaking on Sunday Politics, a programme on Channels Television.

According to him, the investigation into Malami began long before he assumed office as EFCC chairman, stressing that he merely inherited the case file and ensured it was handled professionally.

“I’m yet to understand and see the facts he would bring out to back that claim of what he actually said,” Olukoyede stated.

“All I did was ensure the investigation was carried out in a very professional and thorough manner,” he added.

The EFCC boss further disclosed that Malami has been under investigation for nearly two and a half years following the exit of the Muhammadu Buhari administration, insisting that the process has followed due process and institutional standards.
