Nigerian actor Eso Dike has opened up about the long and challenging road to financial stability in Nollywood, revealing that it took him several years of persistence to reach a major career milestone.
Speaking during an interview with media personality Chude, Dike reflected on his early struggles in the entertainment industry and the patience that shaped his journey. According to the actor, it took him more than seven years of consistent work before he earned his first ₦1 million as an actor.
He explained that progress was slow at the beginning, but he remained focused and committed despite the challenges that came with building a career in acting.
Before fully embracing acting, Dike trained as a lawyer. He studied Law at the University of Benin and later completed the Nigerian Law School. His acting career began on television, where he appeared in popular series such as Tinsel.
Eso Dike later gained wider recognition through roles in shows including The Smart Money Woman, Game On and Ricordi. In recent years, Dike has featured in several commercially successful Nollywood films, which have significantly boosted his profile in the industry.
Reflecting on his journey, the actor noted that he never publicly displayed his struggles.
“It took me more than seven years to make my first one million naira bulk as an actor,” he said. “Before I got one million naira — I mean one million naira — my brother, it wasn’t easy. But again, I am not a portrayer of suffering. Even if I’m suffering, you won’t know. Before I got one million naira bulk, it took some time. Probably eight or seven years.”
Eso Dike’s story highlights the patience and resilience often required to succeed in Nigeria’s film industry.
