Content creator Egungun of Lagos, whose real name is Kuye Adegoke, has responded to criticism that followed his brief interaction with American streamer IShowSpeed during the streamer’s recent visit to Lagos.
The short interview, which circulated widely on social media, showed Egungun speaking briefly with IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr.. In the clip, Egungun asked the streamer about his age.
When IShowSpeed responded that he was 21, Egungun replied, “Wooh! You look so strong and healthy,” a comment that later drew mixed reactions online.
Following the backlash, Egungun addressed the criticism on social media, offering context for the exchange. In a brief post, he wrote, “No vex for me, it was tension,” suggesting that the pressure of the moment affected the interaction.
The encounter took place during IShowSpeed’s public appearance in Lagos, which attracted large crowds and required heavy security. The visit generated widespread attention online, with several Nigerian content creators attempting to engage the streamer despite limited access and a tense atmosphere.
Reactions to Egungun’s interview were divided. While some social media users criticised him for what they described as a lack of composure, others defended him, pointing to the intensity of the situation and the fleeting opportunity to interact with a high-profile international guest.
